A
great adventure through the Kimberley,
take in most of the regions key attractions
as you learn how the region has been
shaped by Aboriginal spirit, the stamina
of stockmen and the forces of nature.

Day
1 - Broome to Fitzroy Crossing (L, D) We
set off on our journey breaking en route
to view the mighty Fitzroy River before
heading onwards to Geikie Gorge for
an afternoon Darngku Heritage Cruise
tour hosted by local Bunuba Cultural
guides. We learn of fascinating Aboriginal
bush tucker and plant uses, animal tracking,
Dreamtime stories and cultural matters
and view geological sea fossils and
spot native animals including crocodiles.
Whilst in Fitzroy Crossing we visit
the historic Crossing Inn, the original
hotel in the Kimberley. BBQ Dinner
& Overnight: Fitzroy River Lodge
(Furnished safari tents with ensuite).
Day
2 - Fitzroy Crossing to Halls Creek
(B, L, D) Today we set off to
Halls Creek. En route we break at Palm
Springs, spring fed waterhole before
exploring Halls Creek and surrounds.
We visit the local Aboriginal craft
store, abandoned Old Halls Creek gold
rush town site, the pioneers cemetery
and China Wall an unusual geological
formation. Dinner & Overnight:
Halls Creek Motel (ensuite rooms).
Day
3 - Halls Creek to Bungle Bungles (B,
L, D) This morning we tackle
the rugged road into the Purnululu National
Park, home of the amazing beehive like
Bungle Bungles. After lunch and the
heat of the day have passed we take
two easy paced walks, first into the
stunning Echidna Chasm known for towering
Livistonia Palms. Next we view the natural
amphitheatre setting of beautiful Cathedral
Gorge. Tonight we are accommodated in
a wilderness safari camp setting. Dinner
& Overnight: Bellburn Safari
Camp (Bedded safari tents & share
bathroom facilities).
Day
4 - Bungle Bungles to Kununurra (B,
L) This morning time is allowed
for the very popular 30 minute optional
scenic helicopter flight over the Bungle
Bungles (approximatley $200pp, own expense).
Experience the thrill and freedom of
taking off in a helicopter and passing
over the immense Bungles land mass with
views into incredible ravines and gorges
below. Later we travel on to Kununurra
arriving just before sundown.

Mercure Inn, Kununurra (ensuite

Day
5 - Kununurra to El Questro Wilderness
Park (B, L, D) This morning we
join a fascinating cruise from Kununurra
up the Ord River to the immense Lake
Argyle then take a drive around Kununurra’s
Ord River Irrigation Scheme plantations,
call into a local melon store and visit
Ivanhoe Crossing. Afterwards we set
off down the famous Kimberley stock
route the 'Gibb River Road' to El Questro
Wilderness Park for our overnight stay.
Enjoy an afternoon of optional activities
(arranged by your guide) such as a hike
to Emma Gorge (strenuous), peaceful
Chamberlain Gorge cruise, 4WD or helicopter
Barramundi fishing tours or horse riding.
Dinner
& Overnight: El Questro Wilderness

Note: Jul 10 departure will stay at El Questro Township bungalows (ensuite
rooms)
Day
6 - El Questro to Mount Elizabeth Station
(B, L, D) We make an early morning
visit to beautiful Zebedee Hot Springs
(easy walk) before we push on southwest
via the Pentecost Ranges & river
crossing for our overnight stay at Mount
Elizabeth Station (cattle farm). Tonight
enjoy Kimberley style homestead hospitality. Dinner
& Overnight: Mount Elizabeth
Station (share bathroom facilities).
Day
7 - Mount Elizabeth to Mount Hart Wilderness
Lodge (B, L, D) Covering many
miles down the Gibb River Road today,
we enjoy a break en route with a cooling
dip at beautiful Galvans Gorge. We then
take a hike (30 minute partly strenuous)
to spectacular Bells Gorge before pushing
on through the ancient geology of the
King Leopold Ranges to our overnight
stay at the very beautiful and civilized
Mount Hart Wilderness Lodge. Dinner
& Overnight: Mount Hart Wilderness
Lodge (share bathroom facilities).
Day
8 Mount Hart to Broome (B, L) Onwards
through the Napier Ranges and more vast
expanses of Kimberley scrub to Tunnel
Creek, an amazing 750 metre long flooded
tube tunnel. We take an exciting walk
through the tunnel wading through knee
to thigh high water and hear the story
of Jandamarra. We then head to the pre-historic
Windjana Gorge. Return to Broome travelling
through cattle country, en route we
stop at the Prison Boab Tree with arrival
at approximately 7.30 pm.
