Kimberley Complete Tour map13 Days Broome to Broome.

Day 1. Broome, Prison Tree, Gibb River Road, Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge National Park.
Depart Broome and begin your complete exploration of the awe-inspiring Kimberley region. At Derby, we visit the Boab Prison Tree, believed to be more than 1000 years old. There are also fascinating storyboards here, providing information on Kimberley culture, wildlife and plant life. Next, we begin our Gibb River Road journey, accessing some of the Kimberley’s best scenery. We travel to remarkable Tunnel Creek, a 750 metre-long natural tunnel carved through the Napier Range. With torch in hand, we wade through the cool waters to view the wonderful oasis that awaits us on the other side. At Windjana Gorge, a short walk leads into the tranquil gorge, where sheer cliffs tower above white sands. View the ancient marine fossils in the limestone walls, which formed part of a reef during the Devonian Age. See crocodiles lazing on the banks of the Lennard River. Continue to our exclusive wilderness camp. Two Night Stay: Imintji Wilderness Camp.   LD

Day 2. Bell Gorge, Hiking and Swimming.
Back on to the Gibb River Road, we travel through Outback landscapes to Bell Gorge, nestled in the King Leopold Ranges Conservation Park, where rugged cliffs surround a series of tiered waterholes. Enjoy the afternoon to explore the spectacular scenery and perhaps swim below the waterfall which feeds the lower pool. Choose from a number of hiking opportunities, or simply relax in the idyllic surroundings. Head back to camp and relax before a delicious homestyle dinner.   BLD

Day 3. Gibb River Road, Galvans Gorge, Barnett River Gorge, Drysdale River.
Today we travel through the heart of Kimberley cattle country to discover some of the region’s most secluded gorges. At Galvans Gorge, a short walk leads to a picturesque waterhole, with Boab trees clinging to the escarpment above. At beautiful Barnett River Gorge, we enjoy lunch in a setting of shady paperbark trees. Look out for the birdlife that inhabits the area and enjoy a leisurely swim. We stop at the Mt Barnett Roadhouse before travelling towards the isolated Mitchell Plateau and ford the beautifuLDrysdale River before arriving at our exclusive overnight wilderness camp.
Stay: King Edward River, Marunbabidi Wilderness Camp, relax in the tranquil bush setting.   BLD

Day 4. King Edward River, Mitchell Plateau, Ancient Rock Art.
Ascending the Mitchell Plateau, we enter a remote world of Livistona palm forests, beautiful lookouts and ancient Aboriginal art. Today, explore amazing Wandjina and Gwion (Bradshaw) galleries and swim in the crystal-clear waters at the King Edward River Crossing. For the next two nights, we will stay in our exclusive wilderness camp beside the Pandanus-fringed Camp Creek, at the top of the plateau in this remote and beautiful wilderness. Wildlife watchers will enjoy the region’s prolific and unique birdlife.
Two Night Stay: Ungolan Wilderness Camp. This exclusive camp is our gateway to the Mitchell Plateau. You are the guest of the Wunambal people.  BLD

Day 5. Mitchell Falls, Bradshaw Rock Art, Scenic Flight over the Falls.
Discover the beauty of Mitchell Falls, with a magnificent system of waterfalls and Aboriginal art. When available, local Aboriginal guides will join us for the adventure, sharing knowledge and cultural beliefs linked to this stunning environment. Begin with a guided hike to Little Merten Falls to view rarely-seen Aboriginal art. Continue through open woodland to view Bradshaw art and Big Merten Falls before arriving at Mitchell Falls. Swim in the pools above the falls, learn of local history and look for the region’s endangered wildlife. We have included a helicopter flight over the Mitchell Falls back to the vehicle (or, if you prefer, hike back with your guide). Longer scenic helicopter flights are available at an additional charge.   BLD

Day 6. Mitchell Plateau, King Edward River.
Time for an early morning birdwatching walk or a swim at the camp waterhole before saying goodbye to Mitchell Plateau. Indulge in a picnic lunch at a majestic spot alongside the King Edward River, with time for a swim in the crystal-clear waters before continuing to our comfortable wilderness camp.

Day 7. Gibb River Road, El Questro Station.
We ford the mighty Durack River, named after the region’s most famous pioneering family. Ford the Pentecost River to enter El Questro Station. Hike to Emma Gorge, where you can swim below a towering droplet waterfall.

Day 8. El Questro, Emma Gorge, Kununurra.
Enjoy time to explore El Questro with a visit to the station township and take in the views of Chamberlain Gorge. Relax with a soak in the hot pools of Zebedee Springs amid lush surroundings. We head to the town of Wyndham and take in spectacular 360 degree views from Five Rivers Lookout.
Two Night Stay: Kununurra, All Seasons Hotel.   BL

Day 9. Cruise Ord River and Lake Kununurra.
This morning you have some free time to explore Kununurra. Then, we travel to Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the southern hemisphere with 18 times the capacity of Sydney Harbour. This afternoon, we join a guided 55-kilometre cruise on the Upper Ord River to Lake Kununurra. Keep an eye out for the wide range of wildlife that inhabits the area, including fruit bats, crocodiles and myriad birdlife. Admire the spectacular scenery as the sun sets over the lake.   B

Day 10. Purnululu National Park, Echidna Chasm

Departing Kununurra, we travel to World Heritage-listed Purnululu National Park, a spectacular wilderness region and home to the unique Bungle Bungle Range. Today, we hike into Echidna Chasm, a remarkable cleft in the rock massif, and considered one of Australia’s most spectacular walking destinations.

Day 11. Bungle Bungle Range, Cathedral Gorge.
Explore majestic Cathedral Gorge today, making sure you test out the acoustics of this natural amphitheatre. Walk down the ancient dry river bed of Piccaninny Creek and marvel at the unique beehive domes. Learn about bushtucker, bush medicine and the area’s significance to local Aborigines. There is time for an optional helicopter flight for a birds’ eye view (own expense). Enjoy drinks and watch the sun set over this magnificent range.   BLD

Day 12. Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing.
Visit historic Halls Creek. See China Wall, a natural formation of white quartz projecting above the surrounding rocks and winding over tens of kilometres. This afternoon we head to Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 13. Geikie Gorge Cruise, Broome.
Enjoy an active morning exploring Geikie Gorge on a cruise guided by a traditional Bunuba owner, who wilLDetail the gorge’s cultural significance and history. After lunch, we travel to Broome, where your tour concludes.   BL
