Welcome to new travel horizons in
the Midwest & Heartlands.
Just 3 hours north of Perth by car lies Western Australia's Mid West region. Known to many as the 'wildflower region', this area is home to one of the world's finest collections of flowering plants.
In this region (subject to seasonal rains), you can immerse yourself in, and wander through spectacular fields of yellow, pink and white coloured everlasting daisies during the season (late July - early September), and marvel at the well-known wreath flower (Leschenaultia macrantha).
The Kalbarri National Park boasts 800 species of flowering shrubs and between June and November in the Eneabba and Arrowsmith River areas, you will find national parks amidst sandplain country that offer flora as spectacular as it is varied. During the season, wildflower walks are conducted daily from the Western Flora Caravan Park by botanist Allan Tinker.
The world-renowned botanists, photographers and film-makers who visit this region, rub their eyes at the richness of the year-round flowering plants that grow here - one of the world's most wildflower rich areas. But the wildflowers are not the only attraction in the Mid West. A region rich in history, it offers an exciting combination of outback experiences and coastal activities. There are national parks to explore, sheer coastal cliffs to marvel at, authentic outback stations to visit, offshore islands to dive from, adventurous activities such as abseiling, rock climbing, canoeing, sunset horse rides, and one of the world's richest collections of seafood to sample.
