What happens on the morning?

We always meet around ½ hour before first light. The pilot will tell you the precise time when you check in with him the night before the flight.

We meet at the confirmed time and you are taken in our vehicles to the launch site, which is determined according to the weather patterns on the day.

You are then welcome to help us with the inflation of the balloons, which takes about 20 minutes. During the flight our ground crew follows the balloon and meets you at the landing site.

After the balloon is packed back in to the bag, you will be taken to your breakfast location for a hearty breakfast.

You can expect to be with us for around 4-5 hours. This includes the flight as well as the setting up and packing up of the balloon, and breakfast.

The Weather

Hot air ballooning is weather dependent and all passengers are asked to check in with the pilot the night before for a weather report. If we cancel the flight, you can either reschedule for another day or have a full refund. If you cancel the flight at short notice, a fee may apply. Cancellation conditions will be posted out to you upon booking.

Clothing

You will be no colder in the balloon than when you are on the ground. The burners are located above your head and, as you will be moving with the wind, there is no wind chill. Wear hiking style clothing and bring a hat. Don't forget your camera and plenty of film.

Safety

Global Ballooning, being one of Australia's few balloon flight training schools and a CASA approved maintenance workshop, aims to achieve the highest standard of procedures to ensure utmost safety standards.

Global Ballooning is fully certified by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA), working under Air Operator Certificate number M543317-06. All pilots are commercially licensed and are bound by regulations pertaining to any passenger airline.

Our chief pilot, Kiff Saunders, is a delegate of CASA, holding the highest possible qualifications in ballooning and has been inducted into the Australian Ballooning Federation (ABF) Hall of Fame.

Tim Steiner is an Australian National Ballooning Champion and Peter Wright has been presented with the ABF safety award.
