10 DAY ITINERY FROM MILDURA
Day One Board houseboat at 2pm . Once settled in and a “Captain” has
been selected we will take you through the boat and show you where everything
is, how it works and teach you to drive it. You can then head off start your
journey along the river and tie up before sunset.
The Gol Gol hotel is one hours drive upstream and provides
excellent moorings. Here you can plug into shore power at a cost of $1.00 per
hour. Walk up the hill and dine indoors or outdoors alfresco at the Hotel.
Day Two - Three Located on the opposite side of the river from the Gol Gol Hotel
is Riverside Golf Course. After mooring take a short stroll up the bank and you
will come across the 11 th fairway. Follow this back towards the Club House
& Pro Shop. Moorings are available there or anywhere along the river bank
that is clear of trees/snags.
Alternatively
travel from Gol Gol upstream to Trentham Winery, approximately 1
hour. Good moorings available. Outdoor BBQ lunches available Tuesday - Sunday,
approx $12pp and great wine tastings. Wander further upstream or moor along the
river and enjoy fishing, waterskiing bushwalking etc.
Day Four Travel downstream, pass the mooring sites and pass through Lock
11 at 10.00am or 11.00am . The last opening of the lock is approximately 4.00pm
each day. Call into River Road Pottery, located at Merbein, approximately 3
hours from Mildura. Good moorings available here, simply follow the staircase up
the bank and cross the road. Gifts & café style lunches available. Located
at Merbein approximately 30 minutes further downstream is Mildara Winery
Day Five Travel downstream towards Coomealla, approximately 6 hours
sailing from Lock 11 or 3 from Mildara Winery. Mooring is available at the
Coomealla Golf Club where you can enjoy a round of Golf on the championship golf
course. If not a golfer, take a walk and enjoy the wildlife of koala's,
kangaroos, goanna etc. For a meal or a putter on the pokies visit the Coomealla
Service club. A courtesy bus is available to pick up and drop off from the
mooring sites.
Day Six - Seven Travel downstream to Wentworth, approximately 2 hours. Here you
will leave the Murray River and join the Darling River .
Good moorings available at the services club just pass the
bridge. Wentworth has plenty to offer, from the services club for meals &
pokies, to the historic Wentworth jail, local museum and the Perry Sand Hills.
New to this town is the Red Café & Restaurant for local wines and great
food.
Day Eight - Nine Wander further upstream exploring the Darling River enjoying the
fishing, waterskiing bushwalking etc before returning back to the mouth of the
Darling and joining the Murray River. Travel back upstream towards Mildura.
Return though Lock 11 on the half hour on the afternoon of Day 9. You can either
motor upstream and moor at the Gol Gol Hotel and dine there for evening or moor
back at the mooring site.
Day Ten Travel back to the mooring site to disembark by 9.00am
