Onboard most QR Traveltrain services there are two types of first class accommodation, Roomettes which
are single berth sleepers
and Twinettes,
which cater for two passengers. Both contain a wardrobe, wash basin and bed linen is provided. Showers and toilets are however,
located at the end of
each carriage.
Economy compartments consist of three berths (upper, middle and lower)
with a wash basin and reading lights. A pillow, linen, towel and blanket is
provided for each berth. Toilets and showers are located at the end of
each carriage.
Economy seats are located in open saloon cars with reclining seats, reading
lights and shade control.

BREAK OF JOURNEY
Is permitted for journeys over 120km at any nominated station, but sector fares will apply when the break of journey is more than 4 hours.

MEDICAL CONDITIONS
If you have any pre-existing medical condition that may need special
attention during your holiday please advise your travel consultant prior
to booking.
CREDIT CARDS
QR accepts Mastercard, Bankcard and Visa onboard The Queenslander, Spirit of the Outback and Spirit of the
Tropics. Cash will be required on all other services.
PENSIONER FARES
QR offers discounted fares to Queensland Pensioners using their ‘free rail
travel vouchers' Discounts are also offered to Queensland Senior Card
Holders, Australian Pensioners and Australian Senior Card Holders. Ask
your travel consultant for details.
WHEELCHAIR ACCESS
Traveltrain carries a collapsible wheelchair on all long distance
passenger services to aid persons with restricted mobility to get to and
from their seat or sleeping berth when joining or leaving the train. A
specially designed toilet and carriage sitting area for passengers in
wheel chairs is provided on the Tilt Train.
SMOKING
Smoking is not permitted on any Traveltrain service. Provision is made at
certain stations.
PAY PHONES
On most Traveltrain Services pay phones are fitted. These accept Paytel
Phone Cards which are available for purchase onboard. Mastercard, Visa
and Bankcard are also accepted.
GUIDE and ASSISTANCE DOGS
Guide and Assistance dogs accompanying blind or deaf persons are permitted on all Traveltrain services.

For passengers travelling in First
Class accommodation on The
Queenslander, or in Business Class
on the Tilt Train meals are included
in the fare. On other services, meals and snacks are available for purchase as required from various
food and beverage carriages on
each service. QR is committed to
making the dining experience very
much an enjoyable part of your journey so we offer an ever
changing menu focused on
providing nutritious, fresh food.
Arrangements can be made for
passengers who have special dietary requirements providing 48 hours notice is given (including Diabetic,
Low Fat, Vegetarian, Vegan, Kosher,
Gluten Free, Low Cholesterol, Coeliac, Lactose Intolerant and
many others). Be sure to tell us of your
requirements at the time of
booking.
Alcoholic and non alcoholic
drinks are not included In the fare prices, but may be purchased on
all long
distance services
WHAT CAN I TAKE ON BOARD?
At Traveltrain, safety is important. Passengers travelling on QR Traveltrain services are allowed two items of luggage (each not
exceeding 25kg in
weight and 180 lineal cm in size), plus one piece of hand luggage. Any single item exceeding 25kg is not acceptable as passenger’s
luggage.
All luggage should be clearly labelled with name and address.
Where
check in facilities
must be presented at least
45 minutes prior to the schedules
departure time. Liability for loss or
damage is limited to a maximum of $200.
Occupational Health and Safety Legislation provides
guidelines outlining the safe weight that can be lifted
by our staff. We appreciate your co-operation.
WHAT WILL THE
KIDS DO ON BOARD?
Children are well catered for
onboard Traveltrain services, every child travelling will
receive a complimentary
activity pack, upon request
filled with colouring fun,
puzzles and crayons to help
keep them entertained on
the journey.
A selection of board games are also available for
passengers on most Traveltrain services.
YOU CAN TAKE YOUR CAR!
MOTOR RAIL FACILITY
The Spirit of the Outback and The Sunlander (Thursday and Sunday services)allow you the
opportunity to take your own car or 4WD with you on holidays. You
can simply combine a Spirit of the Outback or Sunlander package
tour with the motor rail service for a rail / self drive holiday. Travel one
way by train, and have the convenience of your own car at your
destination. This gives you the opportunity to self drive on the return
journey. Your Travel Consultant can even recommend a detailed
itinerary, outlining places of interest and accommodation options
along the way.
You don’t even have to choose a package tour. You have the flexibility
to simply use the motorail service as a one—way means to your
destination, where you can explore the many tourist attractions and
unique, diverse landscape that the Oueensland has to offer at your
own pace.
The Motorail service can be reserved up to 325 days in advance and is
intended to cater for sleeping berth passenger’s vehicles, restrictions
apply for sitting class passengers.
• Trailers and collapsible camper trailers must be attached to a
motor vehicle.
• Caravans, boat trailers, roof loaded boats or canoes will not
be accepted.
• Vehicle and luggage left in the vehicle is conveyed at owners risk.
