DAY 1: Wednesday - Sydney, Indian Pacific, Blue Mountains
(Interstate guests fly to Sydney this morning - airfare additional cost).
You’ll board the Indian Pacific in the afternoon at Sydney Central Station. Enjoy
dinner as you head towards the far West of New South Wales. (D)
DAY 2: Thursday - Broken Hill and Adelaide
Your first stop is Broken Hill where you can explore this unique outback city on a Whistle Stop Tour† before reboarding for the rest of the journey to Adelaide. Although you arrive in Adelaide in the afternoon there’s still time for another Whistle Stop Tour† before you resume your transcontinental journey. (BLD)

DAY 3: Friday - Indian Pacific across the Nullarbor Plain
Throughout the day, your views will gradually change from the salt lake country
to the vast Nullarbor Plain before you stop at one of the world’s most isolated outposts,
Cook. Feel free to stretch your legs and meet the locals - all four of them! You then stop this evening in gold rich Kalgoorlie where you can take a Whistle Stop Tour†. (BLD)
DAY 4: Saturday - Avon Valley, arrive Perth
Take in the scenery of the Avon Valley over breakfast before you arrive in Perth and
transfer to the Crowne Plaza Hotel - your home for the next 3 nights. Once you’re
checked in, the day is all yours to explore this beautiful city. (B)
DAY 5: Sunday - Perth, River Cruise, Fremantle
Spend a full day discovering Perth’s major tourist attractions on board a replica 1899
Perth Tram. Your tour includes free time at the historic port of Fremantle as well as a
cruise on the magnificent Swan River. (B)
DAY 6: Monday - Perth
Relax, explore at your own pace, or to make the most of your time here, take one of Trainways
Optional Tours.(B)
DAY 7: Tuesday - Perth to Darwin by Air
Today you’ll fly from Perth to Darwin (airfare additional cost) and check in to the
Holiday Inn Esplanade Darwin ready for the next stage of this ultimate adventure. (B)
DAY 8: Wednesday - Kakadu, Nourlangie Rock, Yellow Water Billabong Cruise
Heading deep into Kakadu National Park you’ll visit the Warradjan Cultural Centre, the famous Yellow Water Billabong where you’ll enjoy a fantastic wildlife cruise and the impressive rock art site at Nourlangie. Stay overnight at Kakadu’s Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn. (BL)
DAY 9: Thursday - Ubirr Art Site, East Alligator River Cruise
This morning you have the option to take a scenic flight over the Arnhem Land
escarpment (additional cost) before visiting the superb rock art site at Ubirr. You also
join an Aboriginal guided cruise on the East Alligator River and take in the stunning
views across the Kakadu Wetlands. Return to Darwin early evening where you’ll stay at the
Holiday Inn Esplanade for 2 nights. (L)
DAY 10: Friday -
Darwin
With the whole day free, you can relax, shop,
explore or take one of Trainways' fantastic
Optional Tours. (B)
DAY 11: Saturday - The Ghan to Katherine
Join The Ghan as you travel South past lush, tropical scenery to Katherine and stop
for around 4 hours giving you enough time to look around town or enjoy a spectacular
Whistle Stop Tour† at Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. (BLD)
DAY 12: Sunday - Alice Springs
Awake to the lovely desert scenery of Central Australia before arriving in Alice Springs and transferring to the Crowne Plaza Hotel. This afternoon see the sights of ‘The Alice’ including the historic Telegraph Station, the Royal Flying Doctor Service and the School of the Air. (B)
DAY 13: Monday - Uluru (Ayers Rock), Kata Tjuta (The Olgas)
Board your coach and travel to Uluru through the West MacDonnell and James Ranges.
Visit a camel farm, stop at a lookout to view the majestic Atila (Mt Connor) before
arriving at the Desert Gardens Hotel at Ayers Rock Resort. Then it’s on to the mystical 36 domes of Kata Tjuta where you spend time exploring Walpa Gorge. Late afternoon travel
to Uluru for a sensational sunset viewing while enjoying nibbles and a glass of wine
before returning to Ayers Rock Resort. (B)
DAY 14: Tuesday - Uluru (Ayers Rock)
This morning choose to either climb Uluru or participate on a guided cultural base walk.
Both tours include watching sunrise at Uluru, a visit to Mutitjulu Waterhole and the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre. This afternoon enjoy time at your leisure. Or if you feel like a bit of extra sightseeing before dinner, you might also like to take a scenic helicopter flight (listed on Pg 36). This evening dine under a million stars at the sensational Sounds of Silence dinner. (D)
DAY 15: Wednesday - Kings Canyon & Alice Springs
Travel to Kings Creek Station then on to the awe-inspiring Kings Canyon. Make the rocky climb to the rim of the canyon for marvellous views of Watarrka National Park. Alternatively, you may wish to take a less strenuous walk to explore the canyon floor. At Kings Canyon Resort take the opportunity to enjoy a helicopter ride over Kings Canyon (own expense), before returning to Alice Springs and the Crowne Plaza Hotel.
Note: The climb may take up to 3 hours, so a good level of fitness is required.
DAY 16: Thursday - Rejoin The Ghan to Adelaide
Your morning is free to relax or take in one of the fantastic morning tours listed on pages 31-32 before your transfer to the station. Once aboard you’ll enjoy Gold Kangaroo
service and the timeless outback scenery as you head south overnight to Port Augusta.

DAY 17: Friday - Arrive Adelaide
Enjoy one last breakfast on board before ending your holiday at Adelaide’s Keswick
Rail Terminal. (B)
