Wildflowers of the heathlands, forest areas and dry interior at the peak of the season dominate this tour.
DAY 2 - We continue to cross the Eyre Highway through Ceduna, Yalata and on to the Nullarbor Plain viewing the spectacular coastal cliffs before bush camping in the Eucla area on the WA-SA border. DAY 3 - The journey continues into Western Australia, past Balladonia, stopping mid afternoon at a bush camp about 60km East of Norseman. DAY 4 - The pace slows as we enter wildflower country,on the road to Esperence, cutting diagonally across back roads to Cape Le Grand National Park for a two night base camp. Time for an afternoon walk along the coastal trail. DAY 5 - An option of a half or full day walk on the beautiful and scenic coastal trail.
DAY 7 to 8 - Walks in the Stirling and Porongurup Ranges including a climb to the top of Tolbrunup (3500ft) for the very fit, a visit to Bluff Knoll and a relaxing drive through Red Gum Pass observing some of the 500 flowering species found in the area. DAY 9 -
To Albany for a short tour and morning to wander this historic
City, lunching in the pretty town of Denmark before an afternoons
drive to the Valley of the Giants for the Tree Top walk. We
have a three night camp at a sheltered tourist park DAY 10 to 11 - Walks and a picnic in this tall forest area including the Nuyts Wilderness walk to Thompson Beach (a great walk for orchids, heath flowers and the Southern Emu Wren). DAY 12 - Continuing West through Karri and Jarrah forest we eventually turn North East to Nannup & Bridgetown to camp the night at Wagin. DAY 13 - On via back roads viewing wheatbelt wildflowers to Hyden and Wave Rock, then depending on track conditions, on little used roads to Norseman, camping at Peake Charles for the night or alternatively travelling via Coolgardie. DAY 14 to 18 - Return to Adelaide using different bush camps and sightseeing areas missed enroute such as the Eucla telegraph station (almost swallowed by the sand) Streaky Bay on Eyre Peninsula and Lake Gilles National Park.
