DAY 3: We walk 10km along the escarpment above Katherine Gorge to Lily Ponds. Lunch and swimming before returning via the gorge on the river cruise. DAY 4: From Katherine River we travel west via Timber Creek to Keep River NP. DAY 5: From Keep River we visit lake Argyle then into Kununurra to camp. The afternoon is spent shopping for supplies with a visit around the Ord River Scheme. DAY 6: North
to historic Wyndham with its expansive lookout over Cambridge
Gulf and on to camp at Parry Lagoons. A huge wetland on the
lower Ord river. DAY 7: Along the Gibb River Road to camp at Mt Barnett station near Manning river gorge. DAY 8: A day spent walking and swimming at Manning falls. DAY 9: To Bell’s gorge to camp and explore this delightful spot with a dip into delightful Galvan’s Gorge on the way. DAY 10: On to Windjana Gorge to camp with a visit to Tunnel Creek in the afternoon. DAY 11: A day walk in Windjana Gorge. DAY 12: Into Derby then on to Broome for a 3 night camp at Broome Bird Observatory. DAY 13-14:
Discover Broome township and delightful Cable Beach
or take an optional 1/2 day flight to the Horizontal Waterfall
& cascades flying over awe inspiring coastal scenery. (Own
expense). DAY 15: To Fitzroy Crossing and an afternoon cruise in Geike Gorge. DAY 16: Into Purnululu (Bungle Bungle National Park) for a 3 night camp. DAY 17-18: Two days spent exploring Cathedral Gorge, Echidna Chasm and Picannini Gorge (Optional extra Helicopter flight over Bungle Bungles $190 in June/July 2003) DAY 19: We travel into Halls Creek for supplies and head off across the Tanami track camping at Wolfe Creek Meteorite Crater. DAY 20: We travel via Rabbit Flat heading for Alice with a bush camp in the Tanami desert . DAY 21: Return to Alice Springs. |
