Enjoy a day of wildlife and natural wonders
at Flinders Chase National Park. Located on the western
section of the island, Flinders Chase is one of the oldest
and most important national parks in South Australia and
much of it is part of a Wilderness Protection Area.
Home to a variety of fauna and flora unique to Kangaroo Island you
can enjoy walking through the park in search of kangaroos,
wallabies and a variety of birdlife.
See at close range the healthy New Zealand fur seal colony at Cape du Couedic
and discover the formation of Remarkable Rocks. These large granite boulders balance dramatically on the cliff edge, which plunges 75 metres into the turbulent Southern Ocean below.
A delicious lunch will be served in a secluded bush setting within the national park. After
lunch, visit Point Ellen at Vivonne Beach, recently voted
Australia's best beach. Then enter Hanson Bay Sanctuary
in search of koalas.
Later at
dusk, see mobs of kangaroos graze on the open plains at
Kelly Hill Conservation Park to and other native wildlife in the approaching dusk as they emerge from the shelter of the bush land. (L)
