Location
Access
by the Centre:
An easier drive and
scenic in a different way. Through valleys and hills looking
over historical mining country to the distance escarpments. Stop
at the old Palmer River Roadhouse for a refresher.
340km, about four and a half hours. Four wheel drive is not
necessary. Less than 70km of this road is unsealed, making for a
very easy drive.
Access by the Coast:
Travel through Port
Douglas through Daintree, Cape Tribulation. Cross the Bloomfield
River. Call into the Lion’s Den then find your haven at The
Sovereign Resort Hotel.
Four wheel drive only, 235km, about five hours.
Note: This road may be closed at
various times during the wet season.
Access by the Air:
Take the fantastic
flight up the coast with views over the rainforest and reef.
Daily flights operate between Cairns airport and Cooktown.
Flying time in 30 minutes. Private charters can also be
arranged. |
