Getting to Cape Tribulation

Cape Tribulation is home to some of the most exotic and world renowned rainforest on the planet, yet it is only two and a half hours drive north of the international airport in Cairns, North Queensland. It is the perfect place from which to experience the delights of The Great Barrier Reef, the wonders of the rainforest and the adventure of an unspoiled, unique environment. Cape Tribulation was named by Captain James Cook in 1770 on his great voyage of discovery. Apart from the presence of the Kuku Yulangi Aboriginal Tribe, the area was to remain undisturbed until 1928 when the Mason family settled and logging, cattle grazing and mixed agriculture commenced. With the advent of a road (dirt track) in the late 1960’s, the Cape became the final destination on the London-Kathmandu-Goa-Bali- North Queensland Trail. |
