Scuba divers meet a Maori Wrasse

A declared world heritage site, made up of 2,900 individual reefs, extending for 2,000 kilometres, the Great Barrier Reef is one of the most fascinating natural environments on Earth.

The ultimate way to experience the reef is to be down amongst the multitude of colourful coral formations, swimming with masses of enchanting fish from the tiny clown fish to the huge maori wrasse or the giant clams, stingrays and turtles.

Every moment spent below the surface is one of discovery, often exciting, sometimes breathtaking with memories you will take with you for a lifetime.

Whether you're an experienced diver, a diver feeling a little rusty, or very much a beginner, Down Under Dives professional, friendly and attentive staff will ensure a safe and enjoyable experience on the Great Barrier Reef.

Water temperatures range from 22 to 28 degrees Celcius, and visibility usually between 10 and 30 metres allowing comfortable diving all year round.

DIVE LOCATIONS

NORMAN REEF: Great variety of fish life, pelagic, turtles, coral gardens, swim throughs, caves, giant clams.

SAXON REEF: Hard corals, moray eels, lion fish, maori wrasse, beautiful coral gardens.

HASTINGS REEF: Hard and soft corals, walls, swim throughs, stingrays.

MICHAELMAS REEF: Giant clams, walls, black coral swim throughs. black coral trees, lion fish, maori wrasse.

FOR THE NON-DIVER: Snorkelling equipment is readily available with excellent snorkelling opportunities at our reef destinations. You might like to try an introductory Resort Dive. And everyone is welcome to join in the sailing.

Please note the Australian Government Reef tour charge is payable by all visitors to The Great Barrier Reef Marine Park.
