| 2 Day 4WD Kakadu Accommodated Safari |

Inclusions: Exclusions: Day 1 (L,D) You will be collected from your Darwin accommodation at 7am for your 2 day 4WD Kakadu Safari. We head south along the Stuart highway and then onto the Arnhem highway, passing through the Marrakai floodplains. After a comfort stop at the Bark Hut, we make our way into heritage listed Kakadu National park. Kakadu is the largest national park in Australia , has some of the world’s finest rock art and a variety of habitats, including floodplains and savannah woodlands. Once within the park, our first stop is Nourlangie Rock, an ancient Aboriginal living shelter, where we will explore the area and the rock art. Your guide will lead you on an interpretive walk around the site, followed by Anbangbang billabong and Nawalandja lookout. The short hike to Nawalandja lookout is rewarded by a magnificent view over the Arnhemland escarpment. A picnic lunch will be served en-route. We visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre before boarding the Yellow Waters billabong cruise, with it’s prolific birdlife and wonderful variety of plants. Estuarine crocodiles are often spotted here. After the cruise, we make our way to our overnight accommodation in Jabiru and enjoy a BBQ dinner. Overnight: Lakeview Park, bush bungalows Day 2 (B,L) After breakfast, we visit Ubirr where we walk through galleries of ancient aboriginal rock art, which your guide will interpret. Also learn about bushtuckers and bush medicines before reaching the top of the plateau, where you can relax and enjoy the spectacular view over the floodplains. A picnic lunch will be served on the banks of the East Alligator River. After lunch, onto Maguk (Barramundi Gorge) for a walk through the paperbarks to reach the gorge. After a refreshing swim in the plungepool, we begin our journey back to Darwin, via Fog Dam Nature Reserve. We visit the Bowali visitors information centre , before heading out to the beautiful Mamukala Wetlands. View the birdlife from the observation platform, which also has a mural illustrating the seasonal changes that occur through the year. On the way back to Darwin, we stop at Fog Dam Nature Reserve. Built in the 1950’s to provide irrigation for a rice project, the wetlands now have international significance because of their beauty and a variety of fauna can be found here throughout the year. We’ll be back in Darwin approximately 7pm and you will be dropped off at your accommodation.
