Itinerary
Day One
Your Odyssey Tours and Safaris guide will collect you from your accommodation in Alice Springs in time to depart at 7:30am. We depart Alice Springs and travel west following the winding ancient mountain range of the West MacDonnell Ranges. Our first stop will be Hermansburg Aboriginal Community, which was the birthplace of Albert Namatjira and then on to Finke Gorge National Park to visit the impressive Palm Valley. Palm Valley is home to a diverse range of plant species, including the Red Cabbage palm, which is restricted to this area. After a delicious picnic lunch we travel along the Mereenie Loop road to our overnight accommodation. There is time to check in and relax before meeting your guide at Carmichael's Restaurant.
Optional touring: Sounds of Firelight.
Overnight: Enjoy a wonderful Deluxe Spa room, over looking the desert range at Voyages Kings Canyon Resort.
Day Two
It's an early start to the day, as we make our way to Kings Canyon. The canyon offers the more active an opportunity to stretch out and hike around the rim where you will see the amazing sweeping views of the Central Australian landscape and the Garden of Eden. For those who want to soak up the spirit and historic side of this ancient land, you can enjoy a shaded walk of the canyon floor surrounded by large boulders and ancient cycad plants. After our picnic lunch we travel on to Voyages Ayers Rock Resort, along the way we'll stop to view Mt Conner, towering up over 244 meters above the desert landscape. On arrival at the resort we check in to the Desert Gardens Hotel. In the afternoon we travel out to the Uluru/Kata Tjuta National Park and visit the Cultural Centre. We then make our way to a special viewing spot very near to the majestic monolith of Uluru to watch the beautiful changing colours and enjoy a champagne sundowner. Returning to the resort in the early evening.
Overnight: Situated 18 km from Uluru is the Ayers Rock Resort. Tonight's accommodation is at the Voyages Desert Gardens Hotel in a deluxe room.
Day Three
At dawn we make our way west to the unusual geological dome formations of Kata Tjuta. Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) rises 546m from the desert floor and in the language of the local Anangu people, Kata Tjuta means 'heads many'. Your guide will explain the local stories and pioneering history. Late in the morning leave the National Park and return to the resort. Your Odyssey Tours and Safaris guide will bid you farewell if you are staying on to enjoy another couple of days. If you are returning to Alice Springs there is time for you to look around the resort village and purchase lunch before we return. Arrival in to Alice Springs will be in the late afternoon.
