Adventure Tours Australia are an award winning company specialising
in active, small group safaris for the adventurous traveller.
We offer an
extensive range of tours exploring the highlights and hidden delights of
the Northern Territory, South Australia, Tasmania, Western Australia
and North Queensland.
Our tours cater for everyone from the fit and
adventurous who want to get off the beaten track to those who prefer
the sound of ‘soft adventure’ and more comfortable facilities!
We pride
ourselves on offering nature-based tours with the emphasis on the
unique scenery, wildlife and Aboriginal culture of each area. The
Directors who started the company 9 years ago are actively involved in
the day to day operation of the business. They have endeavoured to
make ‘Adventure Tours’ large enough to offer professional service and
support, but small enough to care for every passenger carried.
This, along with our modern vehicles, highly trained guides, premium camping equipment and unique
accommodation, provides the highest quality and best value tours available in the budget touring market.
LOOKING FOR SOMEWHERE TO STAY?
We also offer a range of pre and post tour accommodation options from dorm
beds to en-suite motel rooms in a variety of destinations that can be booked.
ABORIGINAL CULTURE
As an environmentally and culturally aware company we place a high priority on correctly interpreting historical and contemporary
Aboriginal issues for our
passengers. Many of our guides have close affiliations with local traditional owners and consequently approach sensitive cultural
issues with the utmost respect
and in keeping with traditional laws. Every guide at Adventure Tours undergoes comprehensive training at ‘Federal Park’ tour
operator workshops, cross cultural
courses with the Institute of Aboriginal Development and are mentored by Anthropologists and scientists working for Adventure
Tours. Last year our training
manager was invited to conduct lectures on the natural history and Aboriginal culture of Central Australia at Adelaide University’s
Department of Anthropology.
OUR GUIDES
We look for enthusiastic, motivated people who are passionate about Australia to be our guides and all undergo an in-house training
program developed over the last 5 years in conjunction with the National Parks boards and Centralian College, making them the best
in
the industry.
This includes:
• St Johns Ambulance First Aid Course including CPR and other life-saving measures.
• National Parks accredited certificate teaching the guide about Aboriginal culture and the
geography of the different regions.
• Basic mechanical operations and safety checks.
• Driver training program demonstrating safe driving skills on and off the roads.
• Information and seminars on ‘bush craft’ skills, geology, botany, history and Aboriginal
culture.
• Cooking skills - guides are coached to produce a variety of tasty, nutritious meat and
vegetarian dishes for groups and instructed
on food preparation and
hygiene.
• Customer care skills to help guides communicate with groups and deal with language
barriers so you will be entertained while being
educated!
