Outback Ballooning provides a high quality, fun and totally safe ballooning experience, which may be enjoyed by people of all ages and physical abilities.

In the cool pre-dawn, you are collected from your accommodation in Alice Springs. The setting over the remote desert, serviced only by a few bush tracks enhances the sense of adventure that you will experience. The location also ensures that you are treated to the spectacular colours of the early morning dawn over the MacDonnell Ranges. On most days you will also see Australian wildlife, particularly red kangaroos, in their natural environment.

All our flights are followed by a freshly cooked, hot four course champagne breakfast. This is served outdoors at the grassed & shaded area alongside the Todd River at the Voyages Alice Springs Resort, before you are returned to your accommodation or adjoining tours on request.

Early Morning Ballooning - Operates daily.

Your pre-dawn ballooning adventure begins alongside the majestic MacDonnell Ranges. The balloon is inflated and rises to meet the first rays of a new day in the Australian Outback. Drifting over the rugged landscape one is able to appreciate the ancient red land and watch it awaken. To spot a kangaroo or wallaby, fly amongst the green and pink flashes of budgerigars and galahs is an experience not to be forgotten.

Pre-booking is essential.

What to wear (Bring a hat)

It can be dusty in the bush and your participation in rigging the balloon is welcomed so suitable clothing (not white) and enclosed shoes are recommended. You will be no colder in the balloon than on the ground. It can be chilly before the sun rises in winter.

Cancellation - The company endeavours to meet all flight commitments, however, should prevailing weather conditions prevent a flight taking place, a full refund will be made or your flight 

Tour Transfers - If you have a morning flight or tour, bring your luggage with you and we will transfer you to the airport or to other tours: Camel Farm, Aboriginal and Bushtucker Tour or your Coach Tour to Ayers Rock. 

Your Chief Pilot  -   Your chief Pilot and owner of Outback Ballooning, John Sanby. John has flown over 2,000 hours in the world’s largest balloons and his safety record is impeccable.  

Weather  -  Alice Springs enjoys dry conditions most of the year. There are two distinct seasons, cool to mild winters and warm to hot summers.

We operate everyday, weather permitting. Our fleet of large balloons carrying from 4 to 20 passengers each, provides great booking flexibility. The reliable desert weather means we have one of lowest cancellation rates in the world. Our carrying capacity is 160 passengers per morning, which allows us to cater for FIT, group travel, incentives, special interest and private charter markets.
