8.00 am departure for Glen Helen Resort. At Ormiston Gorge, we have time for morning observations of some
of the abundant wildlife of
the area like the White Plumed Honey Eaters,
or the Spotted Bower Bird, we may even see a
dingo as we stroll and wander between the serene Riverine and the spectacular
Range habitats before morning tea.
The Ochre Pits with its amazing range of coloured rock is
significant to the local aboriginal culture for decorating both body and
weapons. Ellery Gorge with
its spectacular cliff faces and cool deep water hole provides an apt back drop
for our gourmet picnic
lunch.
Early afternoon we visit Standley Chasm with its wallabies
lazily sunning themselves amongst the torn and weathered walls of red quartzite
rock. Our last stop before civilisation is Simpsons Gap, an impressive gap with towering ramparts above a
tranquil cool water hole. Tour concludes Alice Springs approx 5pm.
