Different activities suit different visitors, but one thing is common to all: you do everything at your own pace. Enjoying the many scenic bushwalks and trails for which the island is famous, cycling through the forests with their fascinating bird life to hidden beaches, coves and lookouts. There's fishing, golf, bowls and tennis or the underwater wonderland of the world's southern-most coral reefs. For lunch, dinner, a barbecue or just an afternoon drink, the most popular meeting spot is Blue Peters right in the centre of the island on Lagoon Road. Lord Howe Island is two hours by plane north east of Sydney, with a climate best described as "perpetual spring." The Island has a world heritage listing and is totally unspoiled. It is an Island of contrasts, from the sheer plunging cliffs of three imposing mountains, rainforests filled with bird life and exotic flora, through to white sandy beaches, the turquoise lagoon and surrounding reefs, with over 500 species of fish. Just two hours flight from the east coast of Australia has you touching down on what has been described as "The most beautiful Island in The World."
