Itinerary

Day 1. Gibb River Road, Tunnel Creek, Windjana Gorge
From Broome, travel the Gibb River Road to Windjana Gorge. Afterwards, spend time exploring Tunnel Creek.
Stay: Two Night Stay: Bell Gorge Wilderness Lodge, tented cabins with private ensuites

Day 2. Bell Gorge, Hiking and Swimming
Back on the Gibb River Road, travel to Bell Gorge, where rugged cliffs surround a series of tiered waterholes. Take a refreshing swim below the waterfall which feeds the lower pool or go bird-watching. The energetic can choose from a number of hiking opportunities.

Day 3. Galvans Gorge, Barnett River Gorge
Visit Galvans Gorge then travel to Barnett River Gorge for lunch. Continue to your overnight wilderness accommodation.

Day 4. Mitchell Plateau, King Edward River
As you ascend the Mitchell Plateau, see Wandjina and Gwion (Bradshaw) rock art and swim in the waters of King Edward River Crossing.

Day 5. Mitchell Falls, Helicopter Flight over Mitchell Falls
Take a guided hike to Little Mertens Falls to see rare Aboriginal art. View Gwion (Bradshaw) art before arriving at Mitchell Falls. Swim in pools above the falls and take a helicopter flight over Mitchell Falls back to your vehicle, or (hike back with your guide).

Day 6. Mitchell Plateau, King Edward River
Travel through Livistona palm forests, and view galleries of ancient Aboriginal art.
Stay: Marunbabidi to Drysdale River Station, shared facilities

Day 7. El Questro Wilderness Park
Ford the Durack and Pentecost rivers and travel into El Questro Wilderness Park.
Stay: Tented cabins with private facilities at Emma Gorge Resort, El Questro

Day 8. El Questro, Wyndham, Kununurra
Hike into Emma Gorge and take a swim under the droplet waterfall. Soak in the hot pools of Zebedee Springs and visit the station, then travel to Wyndham and see Cambridge Gulf from Five Rivers Lookout.

Day 9. Cruise Ord River and Lake Kununurra
Travel to Lake Argyle, the largest man-made lake in the Southern Hemisphere. In the afternoon, join a cruise along the mighty Ord River, keeping an eye out for the spectacular wildlife.

Day 10. Purnululu National Park, Echidna Chasm
Head to Purnululu National Park. On arrival, hike into Echidna Chasm, a spectacular cleft in the rock massif.

Day 11. Bungle Bungle Range, Cathedral Gorge
Hike along dry Piccaninny Creek and into Cathedral Gorge. Perhaps take a scenic helicopter flight over the domes (own expense).

Day 12. Halls Creek, Fitzroy Crossing
Visit Halls Creek and see China Wall, a natural quartz formation. Continue to Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 13. Geikie Gorge Cruise, Broome
Cruise between the bleached limestone walls of Geikie Gorge. Continue to Broome.

Day 14. Broome at Leisure
Today is at your leisure for independent touring. Perhaps spend time relaxing on Cable Beach. See page 69 for day touring options in Broome, perhaps take a day tour to Cape Leveque, a half-day tour of Broome or a 2.5 hour Broome Explorer tour.

Day 15. Board Ship, Welcome Cocktail Party
This morning is at your leisure to explore Broome. This afternoon, board your ship and tonight enjoy the Captain's Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party.

Day 16. Lacepede Islands, Turtle Nursery
Cruise through Pender Bay and visit the Lacepede Islands, home to colonies of booby birds.

Day 17. Crocodile Creek, Talbot Bay, Horizontal Falls
Visit Crocodile Creek and enjoy a swim. Cruise to Talbot Bay and see the spectacular Horizontal Falls.

Day 18. Buccaneer Archipelago, Montgomery Reef
See Buccaneer Archipelago. Walk onto Montgomery Reef this morning as the tide ebbs and the reef rises out of the sea. Visit Raft Point to see an Aboriginal rock art gallery.

Day 19. Camp Creek, King Cascades
Cruise up the Prince Regent River to Camp Creek and the King Cascades waterfall.

Day 20. Careening Bay, Kuri Bay
Cruise to Careening Bay, site of a large boab tree, then continue to Kuri Bay, home of the South Sea pearling industry.

Day 21. Prince Frederick Harbour, Naturalist Island
At Prince Frederick Harbour, anchor at Naturalist Island for the day. Perhaps take a helicopter flight (own expense).

Day 22. Bigge Island, Gwion (Bradshaw) Rock Art
Cruise to Bigge Island and explore ancient Aboriginal rock art sites, which feature Gwion (Bradshaw) paintings.

Day 23. Vansittart Bay
Enjoy a full day to explore beautiful Vansittart Bay and its many islands and secluded coves.
