World’s Best Practice Eco Tourism Award

At the Tenth Anniversary of the Wet Tropics Management Authority, Anna Graham was awarded the inaugural Cassowary Award for World’s Best Practice in Eco Tourism. The Daintree Wilderness Lodge was built by Anna and her late husband Mal Graham. They took great thought and care in designing and building the Daintree Wilderness Lodge, selecting bungalow sites in natural clearings and building boardwalks that meander through the virgin rainforest to minimise their impact on this beautiful and pristine area.

Their’s was a labour of love a love of the rainforest and the plants and wildlife that live here. They recognised the value and bio-diversity of the rainforest and felt a deep desire to share it with the world and educate guests about the "specialness" and ecology of the rainforest.
