Bloomfield Rainforest Lodge
Hotel Facilities and Information

Bloomfield's peace and tranquility instantly envelop you the moment you arrive, the call of the kookaburra replacing the grating shrill of mobile phones.

The lodge has been carefully designed to blend in with the beauty of the surrounding rainforest, while views out over the blue waters of Weary Bay are a reminder of its unique coastal location.

At Bloomfield's heart is the main Lodge building, with the bar and dining terrace overlooking the pool and deck area. The office and games room are also housed here.

Accommodation is in natural timber cabins, elegantly furnished and located on sites carefully chosen to make the most of the views and the quirks of the landscape.

With a maximum of 34 guests, Bloomfield has an intimate, relaxed atmosphere, with no pressures, no formalities, no interference from the outside world.

Dress is informal, activities are optional (though very popular), and you will return home refreshed and invigorated from your stay.

Despite its remoteness, creature comforts are not sacrificed at Bloomfield. Staff take great pride in guests' enjoyment of their time here - service is always friendly and thoughtful, but never intrusive.

Besides the relaxing tranquility that is Bloomfield's essence, facilities and activities in and around the Lodge are plentiful.

There is no greater way to ease yourself into Bloomfield's aura of calm than with a relaxing aromatherapy massage. With restful music, fragrant oils and soothing breezes from the nearby Coral Sea, choose from a range of treatment options guaranteed to relieve any remaining stress or tension and leave you feeling revitalized.

More social pursuits include pool, darts and table tennis, and the comfortable Endeavour Room has a reference library with videos and an array of information on the rainforest and local history.

The Bloomfield jetty is an ideal place for a spot of fishing and equipment is freely available for anyone wishing to try their luck.

There's even a small gym for the more energetic, or you may prefer to just lie back and read a book beside the pool, with the occasional dip to cool and refresh you.

Meals at Bloomfield are exceptional. Fresh seafood, sumptuous steaks, tropical fruit and vegetables are skillfully prepared by the Bloomfield chef and served in the relaxed comfort of the open-air dining room.

Breakfasts consist of a help-yourself buffet with fresh fruit and juices, home-made pastries, and hot dishes prepared to order.

Delicious set lunches are served for those staying around the Lodge, while special picnics are made for guests taking advantage of the variety of excursions available.

Evening meals alternate between delightful set menus and fabulous buffet barbecues.

Free seating with around 4-6 guests per table makes for very sociable mealtimes and many friendships are formed over a gourmet dinner and a few glasses of wine.

Mulligan's Bar, named after respected explorer and gold prospector James Venture Mulligan, is available all hours on a serve-yourself-and-keep-a-tab honour system.

With a large selection of quality wines and beers, as well as a full range of spirits, the bar is a focal point for guests to make themselves at home and exchange stories of the day's activities.

The 2 hour journey from Cairns to Bloomfield is in itself a thrilling experience. It begins with the courtesy car which takes guests to the VIP lounge at the Hinterland Aviation terminal, looking out over the International Airport.

A 30 minute scenic flight follows the dazzling Queensland coastline over the fringing reefs and tiny islands of the Coral Sea.

Landing on an outback airstrip, guests are met by Bloomfield's friendly staff and escorted on the short trip by unsealed road to the banks of the Bloomfield River. From here, the launch cruises down river to the sea and across Weary Bay to Bloomfield Lodge, nestling almost unseen in the rainforest.

The final touch in this unique little adventure comes as the boat lets down wheels and is pulled ashore for the driest of landings and a cooling drink, whilst the magic of Bloomfield takes over.

Bloomfield offers a number of wonderful excursions which are very popular with guests. Included in the package price are -

Guided Rainforest Walk - Lasting around 2½ hours, the walk is led by an experienced guide.

Bloomfield River Cruise - A relaxing trip of around 2 hours along the delightful Bloomfield River as far as the local Aboriginal community at Wujal Wujal.
