Facilities
The whole atmosphere of Couran Cove is calm and languid, with the sounds of nature to help soothe the stressed-out city person in you. And while a rainforest walk, or a sunset stroll helps you to unwind, there's nothing like a trip to the Spa and Total Living Centre to work out any tension hiding in the back of your neck. How will you indulge?
First of all by convincing yourself that the treatment is an absolute necessity, not a luxury. You've worked hard all year to be able to enjoy this decision. An exotic facial, a body wrap or a Swedish deep-tissue massage? As one would expect, the Spa and Total Living Centre has everything a Beverly Hills beautician might offer. Waxing, pedicures, manicures, body scrubs and too many types of facials to mention. Special treatments include hydrotherapy bath, steam room, Vichy shower and hairdressing.
Massages are for both men and women, by both men and women. By the poolside or at the TLC, there's a range of techniques to squeeze out your tight spots. Yoga at the TLC or Tai Chi on the beach really brings the nerves down to earth. And it lasts a lot longer than a game of golf. Convince him. We find that a lot of guests return to the resort especially for a 5 day lifestyle program, or a 3 day pampering break.
With four restaurants to treat your tastebuds, gorgeous rooms perched on the water's edge or secluded in the banksia forest, you'll find that luxury can be combined with nature. Just as accommodation, architectural and environmental accolades can be awarded to the one island resort - Couran Cove.
Considerate architects have designed boardwalks to lead you over sand dunes, through ancient rainforests and right up to the restaurant's door. We could make a menu just of our restaurants. There's the Oceanman Surf Club at the foot of the sand dunes, famous for its fabulous seafood and friendly staff; the Poolside Cafe on Spa Island, the Boardwalk Bar and Cafe, and for a more sophisticated dining experience by moonlight, The Restaurant overlooking the marina.
Gone are the days when only movie stars would go to retreats. These days, everyone has their own unhealthy habits to deal with. Our 'Live Better Longer' 5 day program sets out to achieve your goals through exercise, relaxation, nutritious eating and an empowering mental approach.
While there are so many things to do together as a family, a bit of quiet time from the kids will make your holiday a real holiday. If you want an organised program for the kids, try the 'Kites Club' (ages 3-12). They can explore, learn a little and meet someone their own age. They're sure to have a ball playing the organised games with our trained co-ordinators.
Older children love Couran Cove because they don't want to spend too much time with you. It's such a safe and easy resort. Don't worry about them. The activities centre has arcade games, table tennis, music, (everything to keep parents out). Plus the endless water activities will completely exhaust them.
So they'll sleep soundly every night, while you enjoy dinner for two. Some fine wine, some conversation and no fights to break up. If you just want to get away from it all. Take your bike, take your hamper and take your partner for a wander about the island.
Activities
Take a deep breath. At the surf beach you can go boogie boarding, bodysurfing and jogging, or learn to surf. At the Broadwater, learn to sail or carve a wave behind a speeding tow, go yachting, waterskiing, windsurfing, have a banana boat ride, or a parasail.
Maybe you'd like to Mad Max your way across the water on a jetski? Or try your hand at sailing a catamaran. At the lagoon you can go kayaking, canoeing, hydrocycling. Can you keep up?
There's a 180 metre sprint track with a self-timer. There are long jump, high jump and triple jump pits. Javelin, shot put and discus areas. There's two basketball half courts, shuffleboard courts, an indoor and outdoor gym and a rock climbing wall. Golf driving nets, 18-hole putting green, baseball batting cage, beach volleyball court, bikes and scooters. If you manage even half of these activities, you've put in a marathon effort.
When was the last time you had twenty-two kilometres of fine, sandy beach to squish through your toes? Or natural coastal beauty stretched out in front of you? Shells, rainbow lorikeets, a surf lifesaver, even wallabies call this beach home.
After an invigorating swim, hop on your bike and ride beneath a canopy of trees. The rainforest is a tranquil introduction to the island's wildlife and flora.
A long leisurely stroll down the endless beach gives you plenty of time to contemplate what to do next. There's so much to do, where do you start? From nature activities like star gazing and eco-tours, every physical and water sport under the sun, the Spa and Total Living Centre for serious indulging, and off-island tours like golf trips, shopping or theme parks. Couran Cove is an island playground where first-class facilities are there to spoil you.
Find a secluded spot for lunch and laze about in the middle of nowhere. Why not try bird watching in the mangroves? The Broadwater is a haven for wildlife. Maybe you'd like to lose yourself in the exquisite nature walking trails. Everyone finds the rainforest boardwalk an easy, peaceful stroll.
Ask about our eco-tours like star gazing or the bush-tucker tour. Or try your hand at nature art classes and explore your own creativity. After an exhausting day, or a completely relaxing day, it's a comforting thought to have a massage lined up. Or maybe a Tai Chi class on the beach at sunset. And if you're not that organised, just watch the sun set at the beach before you go out for dinner. It's stunning.
Once you find out how much there is to do at Couran Cove Island Resort, you'll need some time out to relax.
There's nothing like flopping onto your bed after a completely exhausting day. Then raiding the mini-bar for a cold beer or a chardonnay to toast the great Australian verandah.
The resort has been designed around a simple philosophy. A casual, comfortable atmosphere built around nature - not on top of it. This sensitivity to the natural landscape of South Stradbroke Island has been recognised with environmental and architectural awards.
But as soon as you see your room, you know it has been designed specifically for relaxation. Namely yours.
