Orpheus Island Resort is a luxury island resort afloat on the living kaleidoscope of the Great Barrier Reef. Since the 1930's, the serene Orpheus Island has quietly lured those seeking sanctuary from the rest of the world. The enchanted isle stretches for 11 kms through warm, clear waters of the Coral Sea, 24 kms off the Queensland coast between Townsville and Cairns.

From the moment you board the scenic flight transfer to watch the passing of emerald islands studding the Coral Sea below you will begin to feel the burdens of modern life slip away ...suddenly your life will begin to slide by in a succession of relaxed, crystal-clear days.

The enchanted isle rises from the sky-blue Coral Sea before you. The magical deeds of the mythical Orpheus are evident all around. With warm, clear waters and fine fringing reef just metres from the shore, Orpheus is a stepping stone to an underwater paradise for divers, snorkellers and paddlers alike.

1100 species of fish and 340 of the 350 known species of Reef coral can be found in the underwater gardens of the Island’s several sheltered bays.

The channel at the southern point of Orpheus is believed to host the Reef’s largest range of soft corals.

The fathomless wonders of the Outer Reef are just a boat charter away. Native flora and fauna surround you from spiky grass trees to elegant wild orchids, from Yellow-bellied Sunbirds to soaring Ospreys, from Reef Herons to Green Turtles.

ORPHEUS ISLAND is already teeming with life above and below the surface, we've limited the number of guests to only 42. 
Which means that you can relax and enjoy the Island’s numerous natural attractions, and the Resort’s many amenities.

You can make the most of 1300 hectares (3200 acres) of pristine National Park, rainforest, woodlands, grasslands, granite outcrops, beaches and bays.

You could take a picnic hamper to your own secluded beach, or join a charter to the outer Reef for game fishing and superb diving.

More than any attraction or entertainment, food sustains the perfect holiday. Your palate will be pleased to discover that Orpheus is as famous for its fine gourmet cuisine as it is for its soft corals. 

However long you stay on Orpheus, you need never eat the same meal twice.

All meal selections ~ breakfast, lunch and dinner are a-la-carte, and are included in your all-inclusive tariff. Our much-celebrated and ever-changing menu features the freshest fruits of land and sea, and some of the finest cuisine you will find on the Reef.

LOCATION:
On Queensland’s Great Barrier Reef, 190km (120 miles) south of Cairns and 80km (50 miles) north of Townsville.

ACCESS:
Access to the resort is by the Orpheus seaplane.
A scenic flight transfer service operates daily from Townsville (30 minutes).


RESORT AMENITIES:
1 restaurant, 2 bars, quiet lounge area, boutique, tennis court, 2 swimming pools, heated spa, water sports centre, gymnasium, recreation room with television, video, games and billiard table.


TARIFF INCLUSIONS:
Accommodation, all meals, use of tennis court, pools, motorised dinghies, canoes, catamarans, paddle skis, snorkelling equipment, light fishing gear and selected interpretive activities.

OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES:
Scuba diving, game fishing, outer reef and seaplane charters.
