The Batchelor Resort offers a choice of luxury hotel accommodation, self contained cabins, caravan and camping facilities.The Batchelor area is steeped in history from early Chinese market gardens, use as a base during the Second World War, and pastoral and mining industries. There are old wartime campsites and airstrips where many people from allied countries served during the Second World War. Mineral exploration and mining are active in the area.
Tropical fruit orchards, aviation, government services and the businesses relating to tourism provide employment in the area. There are stores, health clinic, schools, police station, service station and mechanical workshop, hotel, caravan park, post office and churches.
Batchelor Resort also offers fine dining for up to 100 guests, bistro dining for up to 80, bars, take-away food, souvenir shopping, bottle shop, fuel, conference facilities for up to 60, choice of two swimming pools, mini golf, twice daily bird feeding, outdoor cooking facilities and much, much more.
A large, shady, swimming pool serves the guests of the hotel and is conveniently located to the bars, dining areas and guests rooms. A second swimming pool is also available within the resort.
Multiple laundry facilities are provided within the resort to be conveniently located for all guests within the resort regardless of the nature of their accommodation. Laundry supplies may be purchased from the Resort shop. Staff may do laundry by arrangement for Hotel guests with the hotel reception. Irons are available from reception.
Multiple Barbecue facilities are scattered throughout the resort for all guests. Meat packs and other supplies may be purchased from the Resort shop.
Pool tables, mini-golf, darts and children's activities are also provided within the grounds of the resort. There is an 18-hole mini golf course, which has a charge. Clubs, balls, score cards and pencils are available from Resort Reception. Kids, try your skills on the triple hoop out front of Caravillage. If you don't have a ball, call in at the office. Also drive the carousel near the pool and for the littlies, Mr Frog will give you a ride.
Guests are invited to view the twice-daily bird feeding of an exotic selection of wild native birds. Multiple Barbecue facilities are scattered throughout the resort for all guests. Meat packs and other supplies may be purchased from the Resort shop.
Within a short distance of the resort, other recreation activities available to guests include everything from lawn bowls to parachute jumping. In addition to the many wood fired barbecues available throughout the camping areas, the park features an undercover area complete with electric barbecues and tables. Also available in the laundry is an undercover stainless steel washing up facility.
There is a wide choice of eating options available at the Resort ranging from fine dining in the Rum Jungle Restaurant (both indoors and al fresco), the relaxed atmosphere of the Rum Jungle Motor Inn bistro, to take-away pizzas and hamburgers. Meat packs for use on the outdoor cooking facilities scattered around the resort may be purchased from the resort shop.
The air conditioned Batchelor Resort Convention Centre is conveniently located within the hotel alongside the reception area. It is easily accessible either direct from the outside parking areas or from within the hotel. "Welcome" drinks or official registration facilities can be provided either in the hotel foyer or in a sheltered outside area adjacent to the resort's main bird aviaries.
It is suitable for up to 60 delegates with a choice of flexible seating arrangements. Overhead projectors and large screen video facilities are offered. Fax and photocopying facilities are available from reception.
Batchelor is approximately 100 kilometres south of Darwin the capital city of the Northern Territory. Darwin has an international airport. Fares to Darwin from other major cities can be very affordable.
The bus depot serving the town of Batchelor is conveniently located within the resort and services both Greyhound-Pioneer and McCafferty's bus lines. Tickets may be booked through the Resort's Take-away shop.
The resort tourist office which will be happy to arrange any tours or activities (such as skydiving!) that you may wish to enjoy.
The town does not have a pharmacy and guests need to ensure they bring with them adequate regular medication. Urgent medication may be available from the medical centre but may have to be sent from Darwin. A medical centre is located in town.
Batchelor and the Resort are conveniently located for bus routes to Darwin, Katherine, Adelaide Springs, Adelaide, Perth and the other Capital Cities.
Essentially, the Resort is a convenient stopping off point on the major bus routes connecting Darwin and most other population centres within Australia.
Batchelor Resort Room Information.
There are 22 large, bright and airy air-conditioned rooms with en-suite facilities at the Resort so bookings are essential. Each room has television with good local reception of all major channels.
All hotel rooms are fully serviced daily and are equipped with telephone, tea and coffee making facilities and guest refrigerator are provided in all rooms. Rooms are equipped with both air conditioning and ceiling fans.
Each room is conveniently located to the restaurants, guest's swimming pool and guest parking. In addition to the hotel rooms, the resort features a number of air conditioned tourist cabins, all with en-suite shower and toilet, meals area and kitchen facilities. These cabins are available in different configurations to suit couples or larger family groups.
All rooms are fitted with an analog data line for the convenience of guests with laptop computers. In-room dialing is available to all rooms for our guest's convenience. Also on the resort is an Internet cafe.
Rooms may be booked with flexible bedding arrangements of 2 double beds or 4 single or various combinations. Cots for babies are available on request but you are advised to make your needs known in advance.
The resort features many grassed, powered sites, all with concrete pads. Drive-through sites are usually available. Each site is conveniently located to showers, toilets and laundry facilities, the freshwater pool, mini-golf and children's activity areas.
To cater primarily for those travelling in the off-peak season known locally as "The Wet", the park features a covered and raised wet weather camping area.
