Katherine is located just over 300 kms south of Darwin and is close by the impressive Katherine Gorge which is a popular tourist destination. The Katherine River flows though the town and provides some very scenic locations.

Further north east past Katherine Gorge towards Jabiru you can access Kakadu National Park.
