Enjoy 13 Days of fascinating touring through the rugged terrain of the Outback. Spot birds and crocodiles in Kakadu and extinct animals at Riversleigh Fossil Fields, and enjoy overnight stays in accommodation that's comfortable yet full of character.

Day 1. Darwin, Ubirr Art Site, Hawk Dreaming
This morning visit the Window on the Wetlands Centre, perched on Beatrice Hill in the Adelaide River Floodplain. Then prepare for your tour of Kakadu National Park at Bowali Visitors Centre with an introduction to the historical and cultural landscape of the park. Wander over to the Ubirr Art Site, where you'll see ancient rock art. End your day with Sunset Welcome drinks at Hawk Dreaming Wilderness Camp. Become a guest of the local Aboriginal people at this site, located in a restricted area of Kakadu National Park. Staying at Hawk Dreaming means you'll have exclusive access to art sites, and billabongs teeming with wildlife.

Day 2. Kakadu National Park, Arnhem Land
The Gagudju people have given their name to this famous national park, a World Heritage Area, comprising part of the western Arnhem land plateau and the flood plains of the Alligator Rivers. Australia's largest national park is 20,000 square kilometres of magnificent scenery: the rivers flow through deep gorges and form great waterfalls. Today you'll start with an aboriginally guided Guluyambi cruise along the East Alligator River, and take a walk onto Arnhem Land. This afternoon, your group boards the 4WD for an exceptional Aboriginal cultural and heritage tour into Arnhem Land and Northern Kakadu. Visit places inaccessible to most, including ancient rock art sites. Gain knowledge of traditional land ownership, bush skills, hunting, food gathering and bush tucker preparation. Meet Aboriginal artists at Injalak Arts and Crafts Centre in Oenpelli. Experience the region's world-famous landscapes consisting of sandstone outcrops, escarpment, forests, floodplains and billabongs. Note: Injalak Arts & Crafts Centre is regularly unavailable on weekends and public holidays and may occasionally be closed for cultural reasons.

Day 3. Nourlangie Rock, Yellow Water Cruise, Cooinda
Today you'll have the option to take a scenic flight over the Kakadu Escarpment, departing from Jabiru (own expense). Then visit Nourlangie Rock to view different examples of ancient rock art. In the late afternoon, enjoy a relaxed cruise of Yellow Water Billabong. Brimming with native flora and fauna, the billabong presents an excellent opportunity to spot beautiful birds and camouflaged crocodiles.

Day 4. Gunlom Falls, Edith Falls, Katherine
Travel to the southern end of Kakadu National Park to Gunlom Falls, where a scene from the movie Crocodile Dundee was filmed. Here you can cool off with a swim, or hike to the top of the falls and take a dip in one of the many pools you'll discover there. Then visit the beautiful pools around rocky Edith Falls.

Day 5. Katherine Gorge Breakfast Cruise, Cape Crawford
This morning, enjoy breakfast in Katherine Gorge, which you'll visit during a cruise. Take a swim in the warm crystalline waters of Mataranka Thermal Pool and stop at the famous Daly Waters Pub, decorated with the memorabilia of visitors from across the globe.

Day 6. Caranbirini, Barkly Homestead
This morning, you could take a walk among the strange rock formations at Caranbirini Conservation Reserve. Alternatively, fly over the Lost City, a unique geological formation in the Gulf of Carpentaria region, during an optional helicopter flight. This afternoon, travel the Tablelands Highway to the Barkly Homestead, located on the vast Barkly Tablelands.

Day 7. Mt Isa Surface Mine Tour
Journey to Mt Isa this morning. This afternoon, discover one of the most productive single mines in world history with a surface mine tour at Mt Isa Mine. Your experienced guide will reveal how the mine operates and discuss the equipment involved.

Day 8. Cloncurry, Adels Grove
Today you'll head off to beautiful Lawn Hill National Park but first, the tour stops at historic Cloncurry. The John Flynn Place Museum stands here as a tribute to the determined founder of the region's vital Royal Flying Doctor service.

Day 9. Riversleigh Fossil Fields, Lawn Hill Gorge
Enjoy an intriguing guided tour of the World Heritage-listed Riversleigh Fossil Fields, home to some of the richest and most extensive fossil deposits in the world, including some dating back over 25 million years. This afternoon, you'll have time to take a stroll, or perhaps hire a canoe (own expense) at Lawn Hill Gorge.

Day 10 Burketown, Karumba
Travel via historic Burketown to Karumba. Visit the broad, stepped waters of Leichhardt Falls this afternoon before watching the sun go down over the beautiful waters of the Gulf of Carpentaria with a drink and a snack of fresh local prawns.

Day 11. Normanton, Gulflander Train
Board the legendary Gulflander Train at Normanton, and traverse stark red plains and savannah landscapes before arriving at Critters Camp. Enjoy a self guided walking tour of Croydon.

Day 12. Cobbold Gorge
Today you'll find yourself amid spectacular views during a boat cruise through the magnificent waterways of Cobbold Gorge. Extremely narrow, closing to a mere two metres wide in places the gorge is framed by spectacular 30 metre cliffs on either side. Admire the undulating shapes and colours of the rock as you drift through this spectacular site. .

Day 13. Undara Lava Tubes, Cairns
Join a locally-guided tour of the incredible Undara Lava Tubes. These tunnels were formed around 190,000 years ago by the lava flows from an erupting volcano. Travel to Ravenshoe, the highest town in Queensland, dropping in at beautiful Millstream Falls on the way. Finally, travel through the lush Atherton Tablelands to Cairns, where your tour concludes on arrival around 5.30pm.
