Explore the natural beauty of the renowned Kakadu National Park while enjoying a Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River with an Aboriginal guide.

Depart: 6.35 a.m. Return: 8.00 p.m.

Travel across the Marrakai Plains and journey into the world-renowned Kakadu National Park, home to a profusion of birds and other native fauna. View the ancient Aboriginal rock paintings at Ubirr, which has been added in its own right to the World Heritage List because of its anthropological and archaeological value. After lunch join the Guluyambi Cruise along the East Alligator River with an Aboriginal guide. It is a wonderfully scenic cruise and a great introduction to the Aboriginal cultural context of the Territory. Watch for a variety of wildlife, including crocodiles. Your guide will provide interesting commentary along the way. Learn about the ancient culture and legends of the region and, by special permission, take a short walk into Arnhem Land. Late this afternoon, stop at Window on the Wetlands Visitor Centre to learn about the wildlife, seasonal changes, various animal groups and local Aboriginal and European history. Fun interactive displays help to explain ecological processes that occur in the wetlands. The top floor of the centre commands superb views across the floodplains, especially during the late afternoon. Relax and enjoy a glass of wine while admiring the evening view over the floodplains then return to Darwin. Lx1
