Day 3: Kings Canyon - Alice Springs
For the energetic, a guided climb to the canyon rim will be rewarded with superb views of Watarrka National Park. Or you may prefer to explore the boulder-strewn canyon floor, an easier walk. While it was little known to Europeans until recently, the Luritja Aboriginal people have called this area their home for over 20,000 years. Travel to Alice Springs, which is nestled in a gap between the East and West MacDonnell Ranges. Enjoy a city tour including the Royal Flying Doctor Service. Learn how this marvellous facility operates to provide a 'mantle of safety' to the people of the outback. See the School of the Air, which provides an educational service for children living in remote areas. Conclude with a panoramic view of Alice Springs and the surrounding ranges from the top of Anzac Hill.
Camp: Alice Springs. B

Day 4: Tennant Creek
We travel to Karlu Karlu (Devil's Marbles), where there is time to walk around these precariously balanced boulders that have been worn smooth by the harsh elements of nature over many thousands of years. We continue to Tennant Creek.
Camp: Tennant Creek. B D

Day 5: Top Springs
Admire the pretty countryside as we drive along the Buchanan Stock Road, past vast cattle stations for which the region is renowned, en route to Top Springs.
Camp: Top Springs. B L D

Day 6: Halls Creek
Today we skirt the edge of the Tanami Desert, along the Buntine Highway through cattle country to Halls Creek, on the edge of the Great Sandy Desert, and the location of the first gold rush in Western Australia. There is still gold in the area and mineral exploration continues. It is also the hub of a vast cattle industry.
Camp: Halls Creek. B L D

Day 7: Geikie Gorge
The distinct landscape of the northwest region of the Kimberley becomes obvious today as we journey along the Northern Highway to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing. This afternoon cruise through Geikie Gorge which was formed by the waters of the Fitzroy River tunnelling through the Napier Range. During the wet season, the Fitzroy River rises over 16 metres, staining the limestone walls of the gorge and flooding the national park with seven metres of water. In the dry season, the river transforms itself into a quiet stream strung beneath the towering cliffs of the Devonian Reef. Watch for freshwater crocodiles, fruit bats and wallabies as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower above us.
Camp: Fitzroy Crossing. B L D

Day 8: Broome
Our journey continues westward today to Broome. See the sights of Broome including Chinatown, Streeters Jetty and visit Gantheaume Point for sweeping views of the Indian Ocean. At the end of the day sit back, relax and watch the spectacular sunset over Cable Beach.

Perhaps take a spectacular Scenic Flight over the Buccaneer Archipelago or ride a camel at sunset on the beach. Or stroll through Chinatown, home to some of the world's finest pearl showrooms. B
