Jindabyne, also known as "Jindy", is the Gateway to the Snowy Mountains. Less than a
three hour drive from Canberra, and just over a six hour drive from Sydney, Jindabyne is
certainly the central launch pad for both Perisher and Thredbo. Perisher and Thredbo are
an easy half-an-hour drive away, via the Alpine Way for Thredbo, and via Kosciusko Road
or take the Skitube to Perisher.
Facilities
There are two shopping centres in Jindabyne, offering supermarkets; liquor stores; chemist; newsagent; bookshop; bakeries; souvenir shops; banks; ski and clothing hire outlets; post office; video shop; cinema; cafes; restaurants; nightclubs; medical centre and an indoor heated pool.
The National Parks and Wildlife Service Centre is located on Kosciusko Road includes the regional office of the NPWS, visitor centre, 180 seat theatre and cafe.
