Kimberley, Kakadu and the Ghan - 17 Days
Day 1 Wed: Arrive Broome
On arrival in Broome you will be transferred to your hotel.
Enjoy a welcome drink with your Tour Director and fellow travellers
this evening. Accommodation: Cable Beach Club Resort, Broome,
2 nights.
Day 2 Thu: Broome
at leisure Today is at leisure to explore this tropical
hideaway. Directly opposite the hotel is Cable Beach, 22km of white
sand and clear tropical water. (B)
Day 3 Fri: Fitzroy
Crossing Travel to the port of Derby, situated on the edge
of King Sound. Visit the famous Boab Prison Tree, used by the first
police as an overnight holding cell. Travel through some of Australia's
biggest pastoral properties, to the remote township of Fitzroy Crossing.

Day 4 Sat: Geikie
Gorge This morning cruise through Geikie Gorge, formed by
the waters of the Fitzroy River, tunnelling through the Napier Range.
Watch for wildlife as the 30 metre high walls of the gorge tower
above us. Travel to Halls Creek, situated on the edge of the Great
Sandy Desert. Accommodation: Kimberley Hotel, Halls Creek. (BL)

5 Sun: Argyle Diamond Mine A local guide will join us for
a tour of Argyle Diamond Mine, the world's largest diamond mine.
This afternoon travel to El Questro Wilderness Park. Accommodation:
Emma Gorge Resort, 2 nights, stay in unique tented cabins with private

Day 6 Mon: El
Questro This morning cruise through Chamberlain Gorge. At
Emma Gorge Resort there is time to sit by the pool or to hike into
Emma Gorge for a refreshing swim in the waterhole. (B)
Day 7 Tue: Wyndham This
morning travel along the Gibb River Road to Parry Lagoon Nature
Reserve. Your Aboriginal hosts will welcome you to the region in
a traditional ceremony. Continue to Wyndham to the 5 Rivers Lookout
for sensational views over the Cambridge Gulf. Visit Warriu Park
to see the Dreamtime Statues and rock art mural. Accommodation:

Day 8 Wed: Kununurra
After breakfast enjoy a tour of Kununurra. See the results
of the Ord River Irrigation Scheme and explore Hidden Valley National

Day 9 Thu: Ord
River Cruise – Katherine This morning cruise along the Ord
River from Kununurra to Lake Argyle. Visit the historic Durack Homestead.
Cross vast cattle stations en route to Katherine. Accommodation:

Day 10 Fri:
Katherine Gorge Cruise the placid waters of the Katherine
River through the towering cliffs of two gorges. This afternoon
travel through to Darwin for an orientation tour. Accommodation:
Darwin Central Hotel, Darwin, 2 nights. (B)
INDEPENDENT TOURING DAYS 11-17
Day 11 Sat:
Darwin at leisure
Enjoy a day at leisure to relax and explore
the Top End city of Darwin. Perhaps visit one of the open-air markets held across the city every weekend. Or see fish being hand-fed at Doctor's Gully. This evening you may like to take a sunset or dinner cruise on the harbour.(B)

12 Sun: Kakadu National Park Join your local AAT Kings Driver/Guide
this morning. Travel into Kakadu National Park. View ancient Aboriginal
art at Nourlangie Rock. At Cooinda join a wildlife cruise on Yellow
Water Billabong. Later, visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural
Centre. Accommodation: Gagudju Crocodile Holiday Inn, Jabiru.

Day 13 Mon:
Kakadu – Darwin Join the Guluyambi cruise along the
spectacular East Alligator River. We have special permission of
the local people togo ashore in Arnhem Land. Next stop is Ubirr,
with a short walk to view rock art.Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre,
before returning to the tropical city of Darwin. Accommodation:
Darwin Central Hotel, Darwin, 2 nights. (BL)
Day 14 Tue:
Litchfield National Park
Today explore beautiful Litchfield
National Park. Visit Florence Falls, Tolmer Falls and Wangi Falls
where you will have time for a relaxing swim. Enjoy a picnic lunch
and stop to see the Magnetic Termite Mounds complete with tunnels and nursery chambers. (BL)
Day 15 Wed:
Darwin – The Ghan Board The Legendary Ghan this morning in
Darwin. Upon arrival in Katherine you may like to join an optional
town tour including the School of the Air, Katherine Museum and
historic Springvale Homestead. Return to the Ghan and the comfort
of your Gold Kangaroo Service sleeping berth. Accommodation: Gold
Kangaroo Service, The Ghan, 2 nights. (BD)
Day 16 Thu:
The Ghan
Arrive in Alice Springs this morning and enjoy lunch
and a guided tour of the Alice Springs Desert Park. Return to The
Ghan this afternoon and continue to Adelaide. (BD)
Day 17 Fri:
Depart Adelaide Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on The Ghan,
before arriving at Keswick Station in Adelaide. You will be transferred
to Adelaide Airport to connect with your onward flight. (B)
