Tropical Escapade - 11 Days
Day 1 Fri: Arrive Cairns.On arrival in Cairns you will be transferred to the campsite. Your Tour Director will meet you at approximately 6.00pm. Tonight enjoy a welcome drink with your crew and fellow travelling companions. Camp: Cairns, 3 nights. (D) Day 2 Sat: Great Barrier Reef. Today enjoy a cruise aboard a luxury catamaran to the Great Barrier Reef. View this living phenomenon from the underwater observatory, semi-submersible boat or snorkel over the colourful coral gardens. Enjoy a tropical buffet lunch. (BLD) Day 3 Sun: Skyrail - Kuranda. This morning board the Skyrail for a journey above the rainforest canopy. In Kuranda there is time to explore. Enjoy the Pamagirri Experience Aboriginal where you will take the 'Dreamtime' walk along the Rainbow Serpent, through Aboriginal traditions, myths and legends. Learn how to throw a boomerang or play the didjeridu. Visit the Pamagirri Cultural Centre and watch the dancers perform the Pamagirri Corroboree in the Rainforest Amphitheatre. Later, board the Kuranda Train for the journey back to Cairns. (B) Day 4 Mon: Townsville. Commence the journey south and travel to Townsville for a brief stop, before continuing to Airlie Beach, gateway to the beautiful Whitsunday Islands. Camp: Airlie Beach, 2 nights. (BD) Day 5 Tues: Whitsunday Islands. Cruise by catamaran to Hamilton Island. Spend time exploring the Island, before travelling to Whitehaven Beach, where pure white silica sand is fringed by the clear sparkling Whitsunday waters. A sumptuous buffet lunch is also included today for your enjoyment. (BL) Day 6 Wed: Rockhampton. Travel to Mackay, the sugar capital of Australia, for a short break. Enjoy some free time this afternoon to look around Rockhampton. Continue south to Langmorn Station. Enjoy a guided tour of 'The Old Station' and historic 'Langmorn Homestead' followed by afternoon tea. Camp: Langmorn Station. (BLD) Day 7 Thurs: Hervey Bay. Travel via Miriam Vale and Gin Gin en route to Hervey Bay, gateway to Fraser Island, Lying just offshore of Hervey Bay, remarkable Fraser Island is ready to be explored tomorrow. Camp: Hervey Bay, 2 nights. (BLD) Day 8 Fri: Fraser Island. Cruise to World Heritage-listed Fraser Island, the longest sand island in the world and the largest island off Australia's East Coast. On arrival board a 4WD and traverse the sand dunes. Tour 75 Mile Beach, see The Cathedrals, cliff faces of coloured sands, stop at Eli Creek and enjoy a delicious buffet lunch. Return to Hervey Bay. Day 9 Sat: Brisbane - Gold Coast.This morning travel to Brisbane for an orientation tour and time to explore or perhaps do some opal shopping. Continue south to the famous Gold Coast, boasting 70 kilometres of spectacular golden beaches. Tonight, the evening is free for you to discover the vibrant Gold Coast and dine at one of the many local restaurants. Camp: Gold Coast. (B) Clients departing this afternoon in Brisbane conclude at 3.30pm at the Brisbane Transit centre (Tour Code: CCB). You will be transferred to Brisbane Airport for your onward flight (flights to depart after 5.00pm). Day 10 Sun: Coffs Harbour. This morning stop in colourful Byron Bay, before continuing along the Pacific Highway to sub-tropical Coffs Harbour, in the heart of banana country. Hotel: Coffs Harbour. (BD) Day 11 Mon: Depart Sydney. Stop at the coastal town of Port Macquarie. This afternoon continue travelling south across the beautiful Hawkesbury River into the 'Harbour City' of Sydney. Arrive at the AAT Kings Day Tour Terminal at approximately 5:30pm. You will be transferred to Sydney Airport to connect with your onward flight (flights to depart after 7.00pm). (BL)
